Delta Community Support Trust
The Delta Community Support Trust was incorporated 1995 and can trace its beginnings back to our site on North Avon Road which since 1911 has had a proud history of involvement in community work. The Richmond Mission was active in support work until 1984. North Avon Baptist Church formally took up the work in 1985 and with a growing need beyond that which the Minister could handle, appointed two unpaid part-time community workers. Early initiatives included accommodation and support for single men coming out of prison and wanting to re-order their lives. Other groups helped were sailors, unmarried mothers and single men. The Mission owned a large house on Shirley Road which was a single men's hostel. DELTA has since become a focal point in the community for those seeking support.
